Big 'Uns FAQ
Q Where and When do we meet?
A We meet at the Iron Acton Village Hall every Sunday from 6pm – 9pm. There is a map of the area on the site.
On the final Sunday of each quarter we hold an all day meeting from 9am – 9pm, this allows people to either play a lot of games, or take part in one big one.
Q What gets played here at the club?
A If it’s a game we play it, although it is fair to say that most members use Games Workshop gaming systems. In particular 40K, Fantasy Battle & Blood Bowl
Q How old do I have to be to come along?
A We don’t have an age policy as such. It’s more a matter of how people conduct themselves, rather than their age.
Q What does it cost?
A We operate a simple “play n pay” policy. There is no joining fee, or annual subscription.
Those under 16 year olds pay £1.50. If you are 16 or over you pay £2.50 for the evening
As a welcome, your first evening game at the club is free.
Q What else goes on ?
A We run a number of events at club evenings. We are in the midst of Fantasy Battle and Storm of Chaos campaigns. There is a very active perpetual Blood Bowl league.
Light refreshments, very competitively priced, are available for most of the evening and during the all day events.
For the older players there is the opportunity to slip over the road to the Rose and Crown for a post game discussion.
Twice a year, typically around March and September, we hold competitions to which fellow gamers are invited for a weekend’s gaming. These events are known as the Bristol Brawl and the Bristol Brawl Part Deux. The events are enjoyed by people from as far afield as Cornwall and Scotland.
We hold a competition twice year in memory of a departed club member – the Big Al trophy. The trophy is open to all club members.
Q How do we keep in touch?
A We have our own excellent website that holds our diary of events, articles written by club members and a whole lot more. Check it out at http://www.biguns.co.uk/. We have a lively forum section, where members can arrange games, and discuss things of interest
We hope you enjoy yourself at club night and that you will wish to take part in future evenings and events.
